The Platypus, also known as the Ornitorhynchus, is a semi-aquatic mammal found in eastern Australia and Tasmanian rivers. It lays eggs and feeds on aquatic insects, worms, and small crustaceans using electroreception supported by a bill with electro sensors. Males have venomous spurs on their hind legs. They are active during the night or dawn, burrowing for shelter
