The characteristics of the epic genre. The short story genre is a short epic work that expresses a literary event through one or more central events. Its characteristics include short duration and simple setting, a single or limited group of characters, focus on the plot, clear conflict and its resolution, episodic and dramatic intensity, unity of composition and idea, simplicity and conciseness of language, vitality and realism or the limitation of fantastic elements, rapid development of characters
