MAIN SINTACTIC PARTS,PHRASE,SIMPLE SENTENCE,COMPOUND SENTENCE In English grammar, the main syntactic parts are elements like subjects, verbs, and objects. These parts combine to form phrases, which in turn build simple sentences and compound sentences, among other sentence structures. A compound sentence consists of two or more independent clauses joined together. Each independent clause can stand alone as a complete sentence. The clauses are usually linked by a coordinating conjunction (like for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so - FANBOYS) with a comma, or by a semicolon. Examples: I wanted to play outside, but it started raining. The sun was shining**;** we decided to go for a walk. Joe dropped his phone and it broke.
